Mansions are Everywhere!

Sunday was a "moving day" as we transferred the Airstream to new digs at the Interlake RV Campground.  We are further north up the river, and this time on the East side.  Yes, the side of the Hudson River you decide to explore does matter.  All bridges and some roads are all toll.  We have paid anywhere from .75 to $2.15 to cross the river.  Yesterday, we paid $3.50 because we had the Airstream.  Stopped at an excellent and well-known ice cream shop--Holy Cow in Red Hook.  Worth the visit--both hard and soft ice cream.

Today, June 10, we visited the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site.  Excellent tour from the National Park Service.

Luncheon was at the Culinary Institute of America, St. Andrews Café.  There are five restaurants from which to choose.  We had an excellent and somewhat pricey lunch--worth every bit!

Chicken and Saffron Potatoes/Vegetables

Macaroni & Cheese with Chicken & Mushrooms

Strawberry Salad with Greens

Grilled Asparagus with Greens

This afternoon was dedicated to FDR and Company!  We toured his Presidential Museum/Library, Springwood (his mother's home), and Valkill, Eleanor Roosevelt's retreat.  All were National Historic sites with excellent guided tours.
